United We Stand?

A pipe dream.

Merriam-Webster's Online Dictionary defines it as "an illusory or fantastic plan, hope, or story". My friends, I think I've just had mine.

With dissent growing in Congress, more news about more money being given to more companies, and the occasional blurb about the chess-like steps the Axes of Evil et al are taking, it's normal to have this type of dream. After all, I am an optimistic pessimist at heart. Whatever that is...

Are we going to band together like we did in the American Revolution and rebel against a controlling government? Are we going to protest in our nearest cities... standing beside liberals, libertarians and conservatives? I hope so.

A pipe dream? Perhaps, but I think we are closer to this scenario than we have been in a long time. In the past, Americans joined together for "the common good", i.e., WWI and WWII, for the most part the Korean War and definitely the first several weeks after 9/11...but now, we are all dancing around the possibility of coming together to protest what is going on in Washington.

I am proud to be a conservative, but I would also be proud to stand in protest with a liberal who is nervous about where this country is headed. THAT'S HOW SERIOUS I AM ABOUT IT.

SO, it goes beyond politics, people. I know many of you don't believe that, but it's true. It's not just about the Liberals beating the Republicans to win the White House. Sure, they kicked our butts but it's not a high school football game-- it's LIFE. And, more importantly, it's our country.

I believe that the next few months will be very important for America. We need to band together -- UNITE-- as one nation. We are a resilient people and we need to stay as such.

A pipe dream? Maybe. But I don't want to fight this war alone...
